Silver Health & Economy: New Demographics, New Opportunities

According to the European Commission, by 2050 the number of Europeans over 65 will double and the number of over 80’s will almost triple. Such numbers are overwhelming for all healthcare systems. How can healthcare prepare for this new demographic and become more efficient? How can we align health systems to new needs? In this high-level panel discussion, we will identify upcoming challenges as well as opportunities and discuss actions needed to adapt to the emerging demographic landscape.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn about the new demographics of the healthcare landscape, and how we can prepare health systems for the future shift in need.
  • Recognise factors required to respond to the needs of an older population and increased co-morbidity.
  • Identify the opportuntiies and challenges inherent in the new demographics of an elderly population.
