From Volume to Value - A Paradigm Shift

Healthcare systems around the world are struggling with the growing number of patients with chronic conditions, treatments that are becoming more and more effective but also more and more expensive, and an ageing population with quite often multiple conditions that need to be managed at the same time. Data analytics can greatly help healthcare organizations discover patterns in the health of their patients, inform decisions with real-world evidence, and fine tune their care pathways. What are the challenges of turning data into value for healthcare organizations? And how can we compensate hospitals for the value they actually provide to patients rather than the volume of procedures or services delivered? This session will discuss how moving from volume to value is a true paradigm shift for health systems and will present new financing models that promote a focus on clinical and financial outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how the way in which a health system is financed has a direct impact not only on clinical and financial outcomes, but also on the patient journey.
  • Understand the pressing need to move from volume to value to improve patient outcomes but also to increase the sustainability of the overall health system.
  • Examine the central role of technology and data analytics in informing care pathways and delivering value to patients.

Attending this session will earn you Continuing Educational Credits for CAHIMS and CPHIMS as well as accreditation by the ICN and CPD. To apply for accreditation, please click here.
