Become a member of the HIE Community
The HIE Community serves as the central convening point for HIE professionals to share ideas, make connections, learn best practices and leverage opportunities in a collaborative virtual community.  Each quarter we host a 90 minute HIE Community Roundtable open to all HIMSS members that choose to be a part of the HIMSS Community. HIMSS members can join the community by updating their HIMSS Participations or by sending an e-mail to interop@himss.org requesting to join.

State Health Information Exchange (HIE) Program Evaluation Report Released
ONC has released the final evaluation report for the State Health Information Exchange (HIE) Program [Executive Summary | Final Report]. This report provides a comprehensive overview of the planning, implementation, operation, key lessons, and impact of the State HIE Program. The program was created to enable rapid development of HIE across the nation, using tailored, state-level solutions.

Ransomware on the Rise in the Healthcare Sector: Watch Out for Samsam and Maktub Locker
Recently, hospitals and other healthcare organizations have been hit by a wave of ransomware attacks. These ransomware attacks have evolved over time with increasing sophistication. Two new ransomware strains are reported to be infecting hospital systems: Samsam (including MSIL/Samas.A and Samas/Samsam/MSIL.B/C) and Maktub Locker. Read more about what to watch out for
