National Conventions and Health IT
As part of our role as convener and educator, HIMSS co-hosted two discussions "Game Changing Innovation: Health IT as a Catalyst for Healthcare Transformation" in Cleveland and Philadelphia.

Congress is adjourned for the summer recess and will return after Labor Day. Stay tuned for updates throughout August on any new developments and upcoming HIMSS events.

Health IT Policy and Standards Committees Discuss Task Force Recommendations and ONC Updates
Recommendations were made in the areas of ISA scope, structure, vocabulary and terminology standards, research, patient matching, and APIs.

HHS Issues New Proposed Rule on Cardiac Bundled Payment Models
The new models would reward hospitals that work together with physicians and other providers to avoid complications, prevent hospital readmissions, and speed recovery.

Hawaii Governor Signs Bill to Expand Coverage for Telehealth Services
The law states that reimbursement for services provided through telehealth shall be equivalent to reimbursement for the same services provided via face-to-face contact between a health care provider and a patient.

USDA Announces Telemedicine Funding
USDA is awarding $23.4 million in grants to support 45 distance learning and 36 telemedicine projects.
