CHRONIC Care Act Introduced in the House
Last week, Representatives Peter Welch (D-VT) and Kurt Schrader (D-OR) introduced a House companion to the Creating High-Quality Results and Outcomes Necessary to Improve Chronic (CHRONIC) Care Act of 2017 (H.R. 4579).

White House Convenes Interoperability Summit
On Tuesday, December 12, the White House held a meeting focused on electronic health record (EHR) interoperability. 

FDA Releases Guidance on Advancing New Digital Health Policies
On December 7, 2017 the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) took their next step in the implementation of the 21st Century Cures law with the release of three new policy documents in hopes of advancing the FDA's approach to the development and proper oversight of innovative digital health tools.

ONC Announces First Spotlight in Interoperability Proving Ground
On December 12, 2017 The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) announced the first Spotlight project for the Interoperability Proving Ground (IPG).

NIST Proposes Updates to Cybersecurity Framework
On December 5, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) released the Draft NIST Roadmap for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity Version 1.1.

Health Information Technology Advisory Committee to Meet in January
The Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HITAC) is outlined in Section 3002 of the 21st Century Cures Act and will make recommendations to the National Coordinator on a policy framework to advance an interoperable health information technology infrastructure.

California Leverages Health information and Technology in Disaster Response
The California Health Information Exchange (CAHIE), along with the Office of the National Coordiantor for Health Information Technology (ONC) and the California Emergency Medical Services Authority developed a disaster response health information portal called the Patient Unified Lookup System for Emergencies (PULSE).

Ohio Bill Referred to House Committee on Broadband Development Program
An Ohio bill (H.B. 378) was recently referred to the House Finance Committee to create a state broadband development grant program.

Clinical Document Exchange Requires Workflow Considerations
