As the industry continues its shift toward value-based care, quality measures have taken on an increasing role in reimbursement, process improvement and care delivery. However, reporting requirements have added administrative burdens to hospitals and clinicians to capture, aggregate and report these measures. Consolidated CDA (C-CDA) has the potential to reduce the burden of reporting requirements and provide clinicians with valuable information to improve delivery of care.

In this proposed rule, CMS is prioritizing interoperability in the overhaul, and moving the program beyond the existing requirements of meaningful use to a new phase of EHR measurement. This new phase includes an increased focus on interoperability and improving patient access to health information as well as placing a strong emphasis on measures that require the exchange of health information between providers and patients.

Throughout the week of April 24-30, World Immunization Week aimed to highlight the collective action needed to ensure that every person is protected from vaccine-preventable diseases. This year’s theme: “Protected Together, #VaccinesWork,” encourages people at every level – from donors to the general public – to go further in their efforts to increase immunization coverage for the greater good.

HIMSS prioritizes the importance of immunizations year-round through the HIMSS Immunization Integration Program (IIP), which aims to empower healthcare organizations with tools to properly facilitate immunization data transfer, while making that information more easily accessible to providers as well.
