Celebrating National Health IT Week
This week, Sept. 26-30, marks the 11th Annual National Health IT (NHIT) Week, a nation-wide, partner-driven awareness week focusing on expanding the value of Health IT. HIMSS is proud to join NHIT Week Partners to demonstrate our support for a better U.S. healthcare system through information technology. NHIT Week has received national recognition with comments from President Obama, read the full message here. Big Data and Healthcare Analytics Forum keynotes announced
The Oct. 24-25 Big Data and Healthcare Analytics Forum announced its keynote speakers on the event website. Leonard D’Avolio, assistant professor in the Brigham and Women’s Division of General Internal Medicine and Primary Care; Joseph Doyle, associate professor of management at MIT Sloan School of Management who specializes in measuring returns in healthcare; Sree Chaguturu, vice president of Population Health Management at Partners HealthCare; and John Guttag, who currently heads MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory’s Data Driven Inference Group. There is still time to register for this event.

Innovation Matters

HIMSS Innovation Center at the Hub of Medical Advancement
On Sept. 15, the Huntington Convention Center, which is connected to the HIMSS Innovation Center, welcomed Michael McClellan from Roseville, Calif. to train for the first Cyborg Olympics in Zurich, Switzerland on Oct. 8. With the help of health IT, McClellan is able to compete in a biking event, despite his severe spinal injury. Learn more.

HIMSS17 Nursing Informatics Symposium - Call for Posters
Submit a proposal by filling out a brief submission form. Submissions will close Oct. 25. Following a peer review selection process, selections will be announced in mid-November. Posters will be displayed at the HIMSS17 Nursing Informatics Symposium on Feb. 19 in Orlando, Florida, and the primary presenter will receive complimentary symposium registration.
