Is someone you know is doing great things in health IT? Nominate her for a Most Influential Women in Health IT Award.
This new awards program recognizes prominent women at all stages of their health IT careers. Recipients will be honored during HIMSS17 at an awards dinner on Feb. 20 The call for nominations is open now through Oct. 17. Nominate yourself or another female colleague today.

HIMSS17 Call for Posters
HIMSS17 poster sessions are a great way to catch up on the latest research on a wide assortment of select topical issues! Submit a proposal by filling out a brief submission form. Submissions will close Oct. 25. Following a peer review selection process, selections will be announced in mid-November. Physician Executive IT Symposium, Nursing Informatics Symposium and Emerging Professionals Posters will be displayed at HIMSS17 in Orlando, Florida, and the primary presenter will receive complimentary symposium or conference registration. HIMSS17 Preconference Symposia and Workshops
Getting to HIMSS Conference & Exhibition a day early gives you the opportunity to be immersed in the health IT topic area of your choice while gaining insights from industry leaders, sharing knowledge with peers, and acquiring information that will have a true and immediate impact on your organization. Topics include physician, nursing, business of healthcare, innovation, and interoperability/health information exchange. Preconference events will take place on Sunday, Feb. 19 Learn more.

HIMSS LTPAC Roundtable Series: October Event
Join us for this month's LTPAC Roundtable on Oct. 11 as we explore the role of the Person-Centric Longitudinal Care Plan in care coordination efforts. Our discussion will involve academics reviewing research detailing the progression toward an ideal LCP, as well as insights from a leading vendor attempting to bridge this gap. Learn more

ELSI Symposium to explore the Ethical, Legal and Social Implications of Learning Health Systems
HIMSS looks forward to supporting the ELSI Symposium, held at the University of Michigan, which will explore how learning health system creators can engage the ethical, legal and social implications of their work. All who envision a path to better health through information technology and health systems networking may attend and collaborate Nov. 18 at the U-M campus' A. Alfred Taubman Biomedical Science Research Building. Register today.

HIMSS Works to Enhance Cybersecurity 
In honor of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, HIMSS will be participating in several events during October. Additionally, on Oct. 25, HIMSS will unveil the Cybersecurity Hub at the HIMSS Innovation Center, in Cleveland, Ohio. Big Data & Healthcare Analytics Forum Brings all Hospitals to Forefront
When it comes to standing up an analytics program that delivers results, healthcare providers and administrators are often intimidated by the size and scope of implementing a program. HIMSS' Lee Kim provides insights on the recent Government Accountability Office report focused on the magnitude of cybersecurity breaches in the healthcare sector, with over 113 million health records breached in 2015. The GAO report calls on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to issue more guidance to help improve the cybersecurity posture within the healthcare sector and to ensure that its guidance is in alignment with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
