Senate HELP Committee Hearing on EHR User Experience
The primary topic was on how to improve EHR systems, with a particular focus on the physician experience.


HIMSS Submits Comments on CMS Meaningful Use Modifications in 2015 Through 2017
In a June 15th letter to Andrew Slavitt, the Acting Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), HIMSS submitted its comments in response to the CMS’s Electronic Health Record Incentive Program-Modifications to Meaningful Use in 2015 Through 2017 Notice for Proposed Rule Making (NPRM).

HIMSS Submits Comments on Inpatient Prospective Payment Systems NPRM
HIMSS leveraged it members’ expertise in commenting on the NPRM and looks forward to continuing our dialogue with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on the continued advancement and improvement of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program and the Inpatient Quality Reporting Program moving toward Secretary Burwell’s goals for true payment for value by 2018.

This report summarizes quality measures in relation to care coordination in an effort to provide a more complete picture on the disparities and trends as they relate to the coordination of care.

ASPR TRACIE aims to fill the gaps in healthcare preparedness capabilities by providing a portal to share best practices and resources in the event of a healthcare emergency.

Devin McGraw Named Deputy Director for Health Information Privacy at HHS Office for Civil Rights
McGraw brings to the position a wealth of knowledge on HIPAA and privacy issues, serving on the federal Health IT Policy Committee since 2009 where she chaired the Committee’s Privacy and Security Workgroup.

VA and the NIMH Collaborate on Study That May Help Identify Patients with a High-Risk of Suicide Using EMR Data
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) worked with the National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH) to identify small groups of patients with a very high suicide risk using Veterans Health Administration (VHA) EMR data.


Final Telemedicine Rule Adopted by Iowa Board of Medicine Went into Effect June 3, 2015
The rule addresses requirements for physicians who use telemedicine.
