How data can drive results
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital had a problem admission wait times and as a result the facility undertook a four-month study to examine the problem. Applying the Lean Sigma Six process, MGUH reduced the average length of stay by nearly a day among other benefits. Help HHS modernize the nation’s disease surveillance system
The Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are recruiting IT innovators to help build the next-generation disease surveillance system. HHS and CDC are looking to hire for two positions - a data integration architect and a software platforms architect - who will work with a team at CDC to create a strategy for modernizing the National Notifiable Disease Surveillance System and increase the speed and accuracy of data. These positions are being offered through the HHS Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program, which recruits talented entrepreneurs and innovators to complete a 13-month tour of duty. HIMSS C&BI for Population Health Task Force seeks members
The new HIMSS C&BI for Population Health Task Force is now accepting members. The Task Force is focused on the creation of resources and tools to help healthcare organizations (providers, hospitals, integrated delivery networks, health plans and other stakeholders) use C&BI to harness, use and analyze data captured in the healthcare setting to execute population health management initiatives and improve care and health outcomes. The Task Force will be chaired by Karen Golden Russell, FHIMSS, MA, MBA, Vice President, Population Health, Verisk Health and Michelle Vislosky, Sales Executive, Caradigm.
