All patients have an ongoing narrative in their life. A common concern in today’s healthcare culture is that doctors just aren’t hearing them over all the clicking. “Services should be built to be patient-aware,” Wretling stated. “That means understanding a patient’s life is a series of events – not just a log in.” Read the HIMSS blog post featuring Wretling’s insights.

Last chance to apply, the HIMSS Student Case Competition closes next week, Wednesday, October 10, 2018! The competition provides opportunities for interdisciplinary teams comprised of undergraduate, graduate, residents, or HIMSS Fellows to demonstrate proficiency in health information technology (HIT). By analyzing a HIMSS-supplied case study, teams have the opportunity to design the future with an eye towards transformative care. From this analysis, teams should apply recommendations that support current HIT practices that involve transformative care, while coupling recommendations with advocacy outreach at the federal and state level. Deadline to complete submission requirements is Wednesday, October 10. To learn more and apply click here.
