Antti Karlsson is a theoretical physicist turned to a data scientist. He did his Master's at the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo Canada, after which he completed a PhD in theoretical quantum physics at the University of Turku. Antti then started working as medical physicist at the Turku University Hospital  where he did work in PET-imaging and signal processing. From this line of work he joined Auria biobank in the Turku University Hospital where he has been developing Python based analysis workflows and algorithms in based on the data available in the hospital data lake. His speciality lies in mathematical methods, machine learning and neural net models that he is especially interested in applying in natural language processing. He has for example trained and released a Finnish version of the ULMFiT model.
