Lead Nurse for Clinical IT/Chief Nursing Information Officer
University Hospitals Birmingham NHSFT
Trained as a nurse in London and qualified in 1986
Moved to the Midlands and worked in a variety of roles in Intensive care from clinical, In-charge, education and the Matron for the 100 bedded Intensive care unit at the trust. Being a technologically advanced unit gave me insight into how IT systems could support the best care for our patients. In 2016 I joined the IT team as the nurse representing the clinical teams from the patient care environment to the IT technical teams.
The Lead nurse for IT role was a newly developed post giving me freedom to shape and grow it to ensure the bridge between clinical and IT was strong, allowing our IT systems to be clinically designed and fit for purpose.
