Director General of the Innovations and Enterprise Financing Department
Ministry of Employment and the Economy of Finland

Ilona Lundström, Doctor of Administrative Sciences, is the Director General of the Enterprise and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Employment and the Economy. Lundström’s merits include experience of leadership at Tekes (the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation), scientific educational background, knowledge of the industrial, innovation and research policies and funding, as well as existing national and international networks.

Ilona proposes that in order to make Finland more attractive to foreign owned companies, the country could offer welcome packages for the workers who come to Finland with the global companies – schools for kids, work opportunities for spouses. The welcome packages could be a part of an offering for global players with the idea “welcome to Finland, we make it easy for your people to come along and feel welcome”.
