Surescripts 2017 National Progress Report Shows Progress in E-Prescribing Transactions

On May 7, 2018, Surescripts released its 2017 National Progress Report which revealed a 26 percent increase in secure health data transactions over the Surescripts network from 2016 to 2017 with 13.7 billion transactions.  Notably, e-prescribing of controlled substances increased by 71 percent and the number of prescribers enabled for Electronic Prescribing for Controlled Substances increased by 59 percent. The 2017 Progress Report findings show that the Surescripts and the broader health care community continue to make great strides to achieve seamless, secure, nationwide interoperable health information exchange of prescription data, helping to improve patient care.
