Telehealth Legislation

In 2013, Medicare reimbursed less than $12 million for telehealth due to limitations on telehealth reimbursement.  These limitations include allowable sites of care, allowable interface, state licensing, and the lack of a federal standard. There is an ever-growing and complex body of empirical evidence that attests to the potential of telemedicine for addressing problems of access to care, quality of care, and healthcare costs in the management of chronic conditions.
