What We Do

TIGER VLE Workgroup

Rooted in the early activities of setting up a virtual demonstration center, the TIGER (Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform) Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) emerged as a web-based education portal for academic professionals, students, adult learners, and clinical educators in 2009. In February 2015 (post transition of the TIGER Foundation to HIMSS on September 22, 2014), the VLE was reimagined with a new look, easier navigation, and updated curriculum. Four years later, in the fall of 2018, the TIGER VLE Workgroup launched with the goal of re-envisioning the education portal for its most important re-launch to date. Guided by SME insights and expertise from the Workgroup, the re-conceptualized VLE has been migrated to an updated platform offering a streamlined and intuitive education portal for those seeking to expand their health informatics knowledge and skillset.

The reimagined education portal offers NEW content aligned to 15 topic categories, a brand-new look & feel, and a revamped webinar series format. The new resource categories reflect the ever-changing and expansive state of the eHealth/health IT industry.

As part of the overarching global TIGER community, the TIGER VLE Workgroup developed the following mission and vision:

Mission

To maintain an accessible educational portal that meets the ever-changing knowledge development needs of the global eHealth/health IT workforce.

Vision

To support students, adult learners, and educators in their efforts to grow and learn in the ever-changing eHealth/Health IT industry by decreasing barriers  and increasing access to current, high quality, resources on health informatics topics and expert content through relevant webinar series.
