How SUNY Upstate Medical Reduced Security Response Times at its ED

In an effort to improve response time of hospital security, SUNY Upstate Medical in New York now uses a communications technology system that works via badges worn by its staff members. 

Employees are able to broadcast a call for help from their badge, simply by holding down on a button. The message is sent directly to public safety staff who have those badges, are able to respond immediately.                                                                                                       

The hospital conducted a non-scientific survey of emergency department staff before and after the badges and it showed that staff felt an improved sense of safety and security.
