TIGER Scholars Workgroup
TIGER (Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform) Scholars Workgroup launched in fall 2017 with the goal of providing an informatics educator-focused network to inform and enhance current educational practices. The workgroup seeks to achieve this goal by providing a forum for sharing knowledge and learning about state of the art approaches and best practices within the academic informatics community. As part of the overarching global TIGER community, the TIGER Scholars Workgroup developed the following mission and vision:
Mission
Be a trusted resource for health informatics educators.
Vision
Enhance health informatics education through an interprofessional community in which educators share theory, knowledge & experience and collaboratively identify best practices for teaching, learning and assessment.
Target Audience
Informatics educators come to their roles with a variety of professional backgrounds; some are trained in informatics and others are not. All are charged with effectively preparing the current and future healthcare workforce related to the application of informatics concepts and competencies. Resources and tools that will be offered through the TIGER Scholars Workgroup are intended for all informatics educators, with targeted focus on those who may not have previous informatics specialization.
Collaboration
The TIGER Scholars Workgroup models proactive collaboration and engagement with other professional organizations that support health informatics educators. Workgroup members are spreading the word about the critical value of aligning and synchronizing collective efforts to improve the informatics educator and student experience through presentations at conferences and workshops.
