Save the Date! HIMSS National Nurses Week 2017
Join HIMSS in celebrating the nurses of our nation, who are at the forefront of improving patient care and transforming healthcare. National Nurses Week raises awareness of the value of nursing and helps educate the public about the role nurses play in meeting the healthcare needs of Americans. HIMSS joins the American Nurses Association, Alliance for Nursing Informatics, and numerous other partners throughout May 6-12. Two webinars will be featured throughout the week. Registration is free and both webinars are open to the public.

Nursing Informatics 101: Encompassing the Value of Nursing Informatics through the Past, Present, and Future l May 9
Learn about the history of the first Nursing Informatics pioneers, the current role of the Nurse Informaticist, the factors contributing to the growth of the specialty, and an overview of the 2017 HIMSS Nursing Informatics Workforce Survey. The Evolution of Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform: The TIGER Initiative l May 12

Population Health -- Making it Work

Participate in the HIMSS 2017 Cybersecurity Survey
Your voice is needed! As part of HIMSS’s ongoing health IT research efforts, we are asking you to share your thoughts on the 2017 HIMSS Cybersecurity Survey, which gauges the perceptions and practices of U.S. healthcare organizations on a number of cybersecurity topics facing the health sector. This year’s survey builds off the baseline cybersecurity posture of healthcare organizations established in previous surveys and explores critical security themes and emerging cybersecurity threats. Responses from all healthcare cybersecurity professionals are welcome. Share your experiences by completing the survey.

The Foundations of Interoperability: Perspectives from the Nursing Informatics Community and IHE

In this joint collaboration between the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Community and IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) Community, viewers will have the opportunity to see Interoperability in the works from both communities’ perspectives. These IT and healthcare innovators presented to a panel of judges at this inaugural event, produced by local and national stakeholders The Global Center for Health Innovation (GCHI)Cuyahoga CountyBioEnterprise, and HIMSS. HIMSS Executive Vice President Carla Smith announced the six winning teams whose innovations may be among future solutions to ensure the right information gets to the right person at the right time to make informed decisions.
