HIMSS Supports MATCH IT Act of 2025: Bipartisan Bill Tackles Patient Misidentification, Advances Health IT Standards
HIMSS has endorsed the bipartisan Patient Matching and Transparency in Certified Health IT (MATCH IT) Act of 2025 (H.R. 2002), which was reintroduced by Reps. Mike Kelly (R-PA) and Bill Foster (D-IL), along with Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA). This legislation aims to address the persistent issue of patient misidentification in the U.S. healthcare system and ensure accurate matching of patients with their medical records by promoting interoperability and standardization of patientsâ demographic information without increasing burdens on providers and health systems.
