Virtual Event

In this dynamic presentation, David McSwain, MD MPH, Chief Medical Information Officer at the Medical University of South Carolina, and Brooke Yeager McSwain, MSc RRT, HIMSS Foundation Policy Fellow and Director of the South Carolina Children’s Telehealth Collaborative will discuss the evolution of the SPROUT (Supporting Pediatric Research on Outcomes and Utilization of Telehealth) collaborative telehealth research network. Clinical and translational research on the implementation and impact of telehealth services is critical to the development and adoption of safe and impactful telehealth practices. Our speakers will cover a broad array of topics clarifying the significant need for research into these services, with a specific focus on health policy implications, the role of economic evaluation, and overcoming barriers to telehealth adoption.

Learning objectives:

  1. Design research protocols that support the development of pediatric telehealth services.
  2. List three ways in which policy and economic evaluation impact telehealth research and visa versa.
  3. Apply principles of health informatics to address issues related to population health management through telehealth.
