The Shared Services of the Ministry of Health, EPE was created in 2010, by Decree-Law No. 19/2010, of March 22, as a corporate public law legal person, endowed with legal personality, administrative and financial autonomy and of its own assets, under the terms of the legal regime of the State's business sector, being subject to the supervision of the Government members responsible for the areas of finance and health.

The SPMS powers and attributions have been strengthened in terms of service provision shared services specific to the health area to establishments and services of the National Health Service ( SNS ) , regardless of their legal nature, as well as to the bodies and services of the Ministry of Health and any other entities, when carrying out specific activities in the area of health.

SPMS promotes digital health literacy, simplifying complex information, with a clear call to action, especially on public health issues.

Its mission is to inform and promote projects, services, products and the various activities carried out by the Ministry of Health, in a clear, unequivocal and creative way, in order to achieve gains for citizens in terms of one of their greatest assets: the health!
