Activating Healthy Lifestyles at the HIMSS Innovation Center
Global Wellness Day, founded by Belgin Aksoy Berkin in 2012, celebrates annual worldwide health and wellness. On June 10, HIMSS Innovation Center joined forces with over 44 leading community stakeholder organizations to celebrate wellness and promote awareness through educational training about how to lead a health-conscious lifestyle.
In the latest STEPS To Value episode, “How CHOC Drives Value through an Optimization-Focused Culture,” host Rod Piechowski speaks with James Cappon, MD, chief quality officer, and Caroline Steele, MS, RD, CSP, IBCLC, director, clinical nutrition and lacation, from the 2016 Davies Award winning Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Cappon and Steele discuss how they were able to optimize the people, processes and technologies tasked to care daily for one in 100 kids in the United States.

The Evolution of the TIGER Initiative
TIGER (Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform) began as a grassroots initiative in 2006 within the nursing community, with support from over 70 contributing organizations including the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) and HIMSS, two grants from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and a personal endowment. Focused on better preparing the clinical workforce to use technology and informatics to improve the delivery of patient care, TIGER transitioned to HIMSS, effective September 22, 2014 under Clinical Informatics with an interprofessional, interdisciplinary focus. EU*US eHealth Works to Improve Global Workforce Development
The EU*US eHealth Works to Improve Global Workforce Development white paper discusses the ways in which the EU*US eHealth Work Project, in cooperation with its Consortium members and a large stakeholder community, will work to measure, inform, educate and advance development of a skilled eHealth workforce throughout the European Union, United States and globally. The overall project goal is to create a legacy of digitally empowered health care professionals now and in the future.
The project began Sept. 1, 2016, and will span 18 months, culminating in Feb. 2018. Consortium members are: Omni Micro Systems/Omni Med Solutions UG (Germany), EHTEL (European Health Telematics Association (EHTEL) (Belgium), University of Tampere (Finland), University of Applied Sciences Osnabruck (Germany), Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum (Germany) and HIMSS Foundation (project execution by the TIGER Initiative).
