Hosted by the HIMSS-SIIM Enterprise Imaging Community

The HIMSS-SIIM Enterprise Imaging Community creates a platform for sharing enterprise imaging strategies, creating awareness that images are an essential part of the electronic health record, inclusive of, yet broader than the Radiology or Cardiology domains. Together, HIMSS & SIIM have established a joint community to provide education, support standards development, address current challenges, and develop tools to accommodate the changing environment that expands the imaging domain across the healthcare enterprise.

This webinar will discuss key considerations for an organization maturing its imaging governance:

  • A wide spectrum of quickly evolving image and video capture technology, from handheld cameras to scopes to large scanners
  • Efficient provider and staff textual content and context metadata capture, and associated pixel data capture
  • Balancing clinical needs of those who work exclusively in imaging, those who utilize imaging heavily as part of face-to-face patient care, and those who only reference imaging made by others
  • Challenging integrations between storages, viewers, electronic health records, and unique imaging standards
  • Enterprise-wide health strategies and priorities less tied to imaging, such as population health, payment reform, information security, and analytics

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe considerations unique to imaging governance
  • Discuss how to successfully prioritize the variety of imaging modalities and end user group
  • Examine how to govern imaging application and hardware evaluations, not just procurement and deployment
