Immunization is a mature, well-developed domain with a considerable and increasing focus on patient-centered access: most parents have recurring needs for access to immunization history (for school, camp, child care). Increasingly, public health agencies and clinicians are providing direct access to parents (and other patients) with clinical decision support (CDS), forecasts included. This presentation will focus on the development and implementation of CDS by the immunization user community. First, the presenters will discuss the CDC-led effort to develop the standardized Clinical Decision Support for Immunizations (CDSi) resources. Next, an Open Source implementation of immunization CDS will be described. And finally, an example of both provider- and patient-facing systems using immunization CDS tools will be demonstrated.
