CHRONIC Care Act Introduced in the House

Last week, Representatives Peter Welch (D-VT) and Kurt Schrader (D-OR) introduced a House companion to the Creating High-Quality Results and Outcomes Necessary to Improve Chronic (CHRONIC) Care Act of 2017 (H.R. 4579).  The bill, which contains multiple telehealth provisions, was originally developed by the bipartisan Senate Finance Committee Chronic Care Working Group and passed the Senate by unanimous consent on September 26th. In October, HIMSS joined 81 organizations in sending a letter to House leadership urging them to pass the CHRONIC Care Act of 2017, which would modernize the Medicare program to improve the management of chronic disease, streamline care coordination, and improve quality outcomes. HIMSS was actively engaged in providing technical assistance and feedback during the bill’s development.
