What are the HIMSS Certifications?

HIMSS administers two professional certification programs for healthcare information and management systems:

Am I Eligible for Certification?

Eligible candidates can earn certification by taking the CAHIMS or CPHIMS exam.

How Do I Renew My Certification?

Don't wait to start on the renewal process! As soon as you earn your credential you should start maintaining it through completing approved educational activities and tracking them thoroughly.

Certificate renewal must be completed every three years. Please submit  your renewal application at least eight weeks prior to the expiration date on your certificate.

Certification Registry

HIMSS maintains an up-to-date registry of individuals who have earned one of its certifications. The Certification Registry applies to individuals who obtain and maintain their HIMSS certifications. Inclusion in the registry is voluntary, so not all certification holders may be listed.
